The signals that form your memories and thoughts move across your neurons as minute electric charges. Eat brain-healthy foods in a diet loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, whole grains, beans, olive oil, and fish and seafood. And don’t forget to drink enough water. When your brain becomes even mildly dehydrated, it cannot operate at peak performance.
Healthy Brain Tip #2: Maintain a Healthy Weight
The latest research indicates that being significantly overweight could multiply your risk for cognitive decline as you grow older. In particular, abdominal obesity (belly fat) can lead to a variety of health concerns that compromise brain health and function.
Healthy Brain Tip #3: Just Say ‘No’ to Stress
Of course, some stress in your life is inevitable. But severe or chronic stress can actually shrink your brain, and accelerate cognitive decline. So find a good relaxation method that works for you. Try meditation, yoga, tai chi, or prayer and mindfulness. If you already feel overloaded, learn to say “no” to nonessential requests. And ask for help and support if necessary.

I recommend you get at least 45 minutes of brain-stimulating physical exercise most days of the week. This could be brisk walking, riding your bike, swimming, or anything that gets your heart beating faster. In another double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of the effects of brahmi on cognition, results showed that brahmi improved recall of unrelated word pairs after a short interval. In plain terms, brahmi was found to prevent subjects from forgetting what they had recently learned.
